North Haven School is a certified nonpublic school which offers a full range of special education programs for students ages 6-18 in a special day class environment. The 86 students attending our school are residents of Trinity•Ukiah; all are children with special needs. Our academic program follows, as closely as possible, the local school district's guidelines enabling our students to be successfully integrated into public school.
Our typical special day class has twelve students working with two adults. Five of our teachers have special education credentials, so 70% are fully certificated special education instructors, probably the highest number of SH teachers in a nonpublic school in the state!
The test of any school is how well the students learn. Our students continue to make excellent gains in all areas of academic achievement. Our typical student is making consistent progress in reading, mathematics and writing as demonstrated by performance on the Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT). Thanks to our innovative programs, dedicated teaching staff, and enthusiastic students, we expect to see these gains continue in the future.
North Haven students currently range from one elementary class, two middle school classrooms and two high school classes.
